Lenten Bible Study starts Tuesday, March 12

The Lenten Bible study will focus on the I Am sayings of Jesus from the Gospel of John. Each I Am saying reveals more about His purpose and connects us to the God of Moses, the Great I Am. In addition to the Bible, the group will use The God We Can Know: Exploring the “I Am” Sayings of Jesus by Rob Fuquay.

The class will meet on Tuesdays at 10:30 am from March 12 - April 9 and will be co-led by Dr. Ramonia Lee and Dr. Woodie Rea.

Bible History Class: Fridays in June

One of the amazing facts about the Bible is that though it was written by a wide diversity of authors, over a lengthy period of time, from many different locations, and under a wide variety of conditions, the Bible is uniquely one book, with a historical sequence and an overall theme and message.

George Samara will lead a series of four classes that will examine several aspects of this recorded history and offer fascinating facts about the Bible.  Questions to be considered will include: Is the Bible recorded history?  What is the timeline of the Bible?   What was the presence of dinosaurs in the Bible and what is our responsibility to the environment?

The course will meet on Fridays through the month of June (June 7, 14, 21, 28) at 10:00 am in the Fellowship Hall.  The text and the primary reference for the class will be the Holy Bible, and you will need to bring it to each class. RSVP by submitting the form below by June 5.

Bible Study starts Thursday, May 16

A new Bible study, Reading the Bible for Deeper Meaning led by Bill Pailen, will start on Thursday, May 16 at 2:00 pm and continue for six consecutive weeks. As Christians, we want to know the Bible’s message, because it is the inspired word of God. Through it we learn who God is, how human beings relate to God, and how to live our lives in ways that are pleasing to God. Yet we often struggle to understand important passages or we read without giving much thought to the richness of the message.

Sign up to join this lively discussion group by completing the form below by May 13. Bring your Bible to the course. No additional text is required.

Olney Theatre Website:  "Three young sailors on shore-leave hit 1944 New York City in a mad sprint to find love before being shipped off to war.  Gabey sets off in search of a beauty he's only seen on a subway poster-that month's Miss Turnstiles-while his comrades stumble into romances with a cabbie who sets her own destinations and an anthropologist in search of the perfect "primitive man." The manic coupling is set to an exuberant Leonard Bernstein score that begins with the classic "New York, New York" and from there reaches heights of classical and popular greatness.  Comden & Green's first Broadway hit grew out of a ballad that Jerome Robbins worked on with Bernstein, so this also promises to be one of the danciest shows of our season!"
